These last few years have been some of the most stretching of my life 🙂 Older than I have ever been….yet being compelled to stretch further!
“Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes.” Isaiah 54:2
So often in church cultures Isaiah 54:2 is used to showcase a building program.
I believe we can also consider ourselves being like tents. Jesus has done the complete and finished work on the Cross for us so we can live to the fullest (John 10:10). Therefore being confident of this magnificent revelation we are set free from chasing after things that satisfy religious dogma while we can set ourselves in motion to pursue what God has put in our hearts.
Time and time again, we will remain in our familiar views and settings because it just doesn’t feel good to be stretched! Being uncomfortable and stretched can be painful.
If you are feeling stretched or even overwhelmed being compelled in the direction that aligns with the desires of your heart…..please be encouraged by what Isaiah proclaims and consider some of the words in his proclamation: enlarge….stretch….do not hold back ….lengthen…..strengthen.
You may not be in that ‘feel good’ and/or comfortable state although you may be doing a lot of things right.
A few thoughts as I ponder and pray this morning….
