Destination Disease or Destination Success

Destination Disease or Destination Success

Over the course of several days and over 4,000 miles (7,000+ km), I had arrived at my destination, Punta Gorda, Belize. Finally my journey’s end from Abbotsford, British Columbia! It was relieving and exhilarating!Screen Shot 2016-06-01 at 7.47.24 AM

Now, I have to admit that, I did miss a lot of sites and tourist attractions along the way.  Even though, I missed taking some time ‘to smell some roses’, I was pleased with my focus and intention to avoid accidents and tricky situations along the road. If I had ‘destination disease’ while driving that long and winding road, I certainly appeared to shake off the “sickness” upon my arrival!  In other words, I had arrived and was filled with gratefulness and thanks 🙂

At the same time, there were some spectacular things to observe and view along the journey which I did enjoy.

Any one who does any significant travel realizes that there will be many occurrences that transpire that you are not prepared for and these can surprise you…..it is the adventure of travel. Yet, when traveling there will always be a destination.
Even Abraham had a destinGen12ation. “The Lord had said to Abram (Abraham), ‘Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.” Genesis 12:1.  Yes, the destination wasn’t determined yet by God to Abraham, it would require massive faith……but for certain… there was destination to be revealed.

I am saying all of this to say…..being focused on a destination, goal or vision can get a bad rap….such as ‘destination disease’.   On the flip side…..’Waiting on God’ (year after year after year, etc) without making a decision or having a goal can also be painful. ‘Chasing after God’ may lead you chasing after someone else’s vision that can lead to devastation.

There is no right or wrong here…..although there may be a better way.  It is for you to determine your timing and destinations. You just may need a life coach. Now I just said coach….chasing after another prophetic word or revival meeting may just keep you distracted. Life Coach meaning: ‘a person who counsels and encourages clients on matters having to do with careers or personal challenges.’

I have personally benefitted along my journey with having a coach, a sherpa, to help guide me, encourage me, keep me on the beaten path, away from distractions…..all with one purpose….to reach the goal!

Cheering you on, Brian

Proverbs 3:23-27 You’ll travel safely, you’ll neither tire nor trip. You’ll take afternoon naps without a worry, you’ll enjoy a good night’s sleep. No need to panic over alarms or surprises, or predictions that doomsday’s just around the corner, Because God will be right there with you; he’ll keep you safe and sound. Never walk away from someone who deserves help; your hand is God’s hand for that person.
